Making Clients Welcome: How To Utilise Your Reception Area

We only get one chance to make a first impression, and like with any corporate building, the reception area is normally the first thing that a potential client will see once stepping inside, therefore – it needs to impress! It can be hard to make your reception area look great but also work as a functional space too, which is why we have listed some great top tips on how to best utilise your reception area with Office Options

What Can I Do To Best Utilise My Reception Area?

Showcase Your Brand Logo And Colours –

Plain white walls can look professional and they are great if you’re going for a minimal look, but the reception area is where guests and customers will start to get a real feel for your company, which makes it a great space to utilise the brand’s logo and colour palette. Your logo should be placed in an eye-catching spot, somewhere where everyone can easily see it. It should also be large enough to be seen, but be careful not to go overboard! If you’re worried your logo will not stand out enough then think of creative ways to showcase it – maybe you could have lights shining on it? Or even get it printed on materials so that it becomes 3D and stands out for your visitors? In terms of best utilising your brand colours, we would normally recommend (depending on how big the area is) using no more than two different colours in this space – this should allow enough creativity to showcase who you are as a business but also reduces any risk of going overboard.

Display Your Products –

If your business produces physical products then the reception area is a great place to show them off as your guests will potentially be spending their first five minutes in this section. Display cases are great for showcasing your products, while also keeping them safe! In businesses where you cannot display physical products, you could think about having some artwork designed and printed that showcase your services in a creative and visually appealing way.

Have Functionality At The Forefront Of Your Mind –

Having a really visual and interactive reception space is all well and good but you need to remember that space needs to function as intended. For example, most reception areas have a front desk, therefore this should not be crowded or hard to find as you still want your visitors to be able to find their way around the reception area. Seating is also a MUST in a reception area – but remember to consider leaving enough space for disabled access.

Keep It Tidy –

Something to also consider when making sure your reception space is functioning as it should is to keep it clean and tidy! There is nothing worse than stepping into an office space to be greeted with clutter and mess… When a space (especially if it’s a small space) is clean and tidy, it can make the room appear a lot bigger and ‘put together’. While it is hard to keep on top of an area that is always in use, it is vitally important to keep it as presentable as possible.
